Early years.

 

The Rev. Will Reller was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in 1967. He was a member of Divine Word Missionary Order (SVD) from 1953-1983. During that time he did pastoral work, education, and retreat direction in Papua New Guinea (1972-1975), Ghana, Africa, and Guatemala. He held the position of Director of Formation at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, Illinois from 19— until 1982. In 1983 his orders were received by the Episcopal Church and in 1984 he married the artist, Irene F. Sullivan.

After two years of pastoral work with the Swampy Cree Indians of Northern Manitoba, Canada Rev. Reller moved to Boulder, Colorado. He was the full time Chaplain for Boulder Community Hospital from 1989 – 2002 and also served as the Priest-in-Charge at the Chapel of the Resurrection in Limon, Colorado from 1987-2011. In 2012 he joined the pastoral care team of St. John’s Epicospal Church in Boulder, Colorado.

During his tenure at Boulder Community Hospital Rev. Reller developed and implemented a unique and very successful model for over 20 hospital chaplain volunteers ensuring 24/7 spiritual care availability for the entire hospital and its staff. He was an intricate part of the hospital’s medical ethics review team and implemented joining morning rounds on all Critical Care / ICU patients being present for physcians and nursing staff as well as patients and their families. Along with this, he supervised numerous C.P.E. (clinical pastoral education) students and seminarians doing their field placement rotations at the hospital. Rev. Reller served on the hospital’s Physician Wellness Committee from 1996-2002 and the Colorado State Board of Medical Ethics from 1995-2005. Since 2002 Rev. Reller has devoted his full time practice as a chaplain to providing spiritual care to hospice patients, the isolated elderly and continues his work in spiritual direction.
